Root beer floats are one of those quintessential childhood treats. After not having one in years, I recently decided to make one, but with a grown up twist! I followed this recipe and made sure to use classic vanilla ice cream (Hagaan Dazs, it’s just so rich and creamy), my favorite Stewart’s root beer, a touch of Kahlua, and a dollop of my homemade whipped cream. It was the perfect treat for my inner child and my adult sensibility.
My sister recently moved to the city and in helping her decorate her apartment, I made this gold dipped cotton ball jar. I love the combination of the gold and glass and the pop of white from the fluffy cotton balls adds the perfect contrast. It only took a few steps to achieve and leaves a lasting impression.
What you'll need:
-Cotton ball jar (I got mine at Macy’s here)
-Martha Stewart’s glass paint
-Painter’s tape
-Foam paint brush
1. Using the painter’s tape, tape off the area you would like to paint.
2. Using the foam paint brush and paint, begin painting the jar. Between each coat, let the paint dry for 10 minutes. Keep adding coats until you get the desired coverage. I used 4-5 coats.
3. Once done painting, remove painter’s tape and let air dry.
The final product!

A denim jacket is a staple for me in the summer. It goes with everything and is easy to throw on over dresses, skirts, and shorts. The recent summer heat though has made wearing my denim jacket just a bit too toasty. To adjust, I turned to another summer favorite: my denim vest. It adds the perfect finishing layer like my jacket, but it lets me keep cool in the heat. It is also the best way to add a little edge to any outfit.
Etsy is one of my favorite places to look for home decor items. The dealers always have amazing pieces at great prices. I recently came across the shop Hi-Brow Modern and am in love. They have the most amazing retro, vintage pieces. I am currently lusting over this vanity stool and these glasses. You should definitely check out the rest of the shops goods here.
