Eat Play Dress

1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8

Recently while looking online, I noticed a number of items with pineapples. At first, I just thought it was cute, but as I came across more and more things, I really started to love all the things with pineapple on them. From glasses, to a swimsuit, to a cheese board, I could not get enough of the pineapple motif. The  pineapple adds this retro feel that you just can’t help but love. So join me and welcome some pineapples into your life.

P.S. Did you know that pineapples are the symbol for hospitality and mean welcome?

Dress: Zara (old), Shoes: Sam Edelman, Clutch: American Apparel, Necklace: Jcrew, Watch: Michele, Ring: David Yurman, Bracelet: Jcrew (old)
The weather in NYC this week has been super hot and humid. I can’t even get my hair to hold a curl. To survive the heat, I have been turning to my flowy dresses and light layers to keep cool. This dress is a favorite of mine because it’s the perfect way to beat the heat without sacrificing style.

Broccoli salad is one of those dishes I always remember my mom making. It was one of those summer time dishes my mom would make every time she had some leftover broccoli in the refrigerator. It only requires a handful of ingredients and allows for lots of ad hoc variations. After making this recently, I could not resist using the leftover broccoli to make this wonderful salad.

While doing my makeup recently, I dropped my blush compact, and it shattered into a million pieces. Not wanting to admit defeat, I picked up the pieces that I could and searched for a way to fix it. I ended up finding this tutorial. With a couple tweaks, I was easily able to restore my compact to its original form.

What You'll Need:
-Broken compact
-Rubbing Alcohol
-Makeup brush
-3-4  Q-tips
-Small flat bottomed item (I used a small piece of wood)
-Sheet of plastic (not shown)
-Plastic bag

1188
1. Start with a broken compact

1194
2. Put broken pieces of compact into a plastic bag. Break up pieces into a powder.

1211
3. Pour the powder back into the compact.

1220
4. Place sheet of plastic (I used saran wrap) over the compact. Using a flat bottomed item, press the powder into the compact until flat.

1229
5. Pour around 8-10 drops of rubbing alcohol onto the powder in the compact. Allow 10-15 minutes for the alcohol to evaporate.

1235
6. Clean the sides of the compact.

1237
7. The final product all nice and pretty!

Top: Piperlime, Pants: Citizens of Humanity, Clutch: MNO.logie, Shoes: Steve Madden, Necklace: Jcrew, Bracelet: Urban Outfitters (old), Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren

The weather in NYC this weekend was absolutely gorgeous. To take advantage of the sunshine, my boyfriend and I spent the day at the Bronx Zoo. It’s been years since I’ve visited the zoo, so I was excited to see my two favorite animals: giraffes and polar bears. I love admiring the majestic necks of the giraffes and the fluffy white fur of the polar bears.

After our day at the zoo, I put on this outfit to grab dinner and drinks. I love mixing up a monochromatic look by adding a pop of color with accessories. These yellow shoes are the perfect way to add a little vibrance to any look.

In college, there was this sandwich shop (CTB for anyone familiar with Ithaca, New York) all the students loved. It had fantastic sandwiches, amazing smoothies, and delectable desserts as well as being just a great place to chill. I would easily eat two or three meals a week here, and trust me, I was not alone. One item on the menu I became quite fond of was their Flu Fighter smoothie made only of orange juice and bananas. Now, that I can’t visit daily (about four hours between Ithaca, NY and NYC), I make the smoothie at home and reminisce on my college days.

Decorative cocktail glasses make the perfect final touch to a mixed drink. Now that I am out of college, I have been looking for some new ones to stock my bar, as red solo cups don’t fit my style. After looking around and finding nothing I was in love with, I decided to make my own. Using a simple polka dot design and this etching cream, I was able to create the perfect new cocktail glasses with ease.

What you’ll need:
-Cocktail glasses
-Etching cream
-Stickers (I used round stickers that were 1/2, 3/4, and 1 1/4 inches)
-Foam paint brush
-Rubber gloves
-Rubbing Alcohol1111
1. Rub each glass with the rubbing alcohol to remove any stains.

1118
2. Place the stickers on each glass and make sure to wipe off any finger prints with rubbing alcohol.

1126
3. Paint the etching cream onto each glass.

1133
4. To ensure an even etching, move the etching cream around with the foam brush every minute to pop any air bubbles. Let the etching cream sit on the glass for at least 5 minutes. Once done, wash the etching cream off the glass.

On a recent trip downtown, I stopped by the Chobani retail store. At the store, they offer their Greek yogurt paired with a variety of ingredients to create savory and sweet yogurt creations. I tried their chocolate + pistachio, and it was AMAZING! It was made of creamy Greek yogurt topped with crunchy pistachios, sweet dark chocolate, juicy orange segments, a sprig of mint, and a drizzle of honey. Since visiting the store, I have made this yogurt combo over and over again at home. Be sure to check out their website here for other topping ideas!

Shirt: H&M, Pants: Max Studio (old, similar), Purse: Zara, Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren, Shoes: Jcrew

Black and white has emerged as a big trend for this season. While I generally don’t invest in trends as I try to focus on investment pieces, the black and white trend is just too appealing to ignore. This shirt has been a great way to incorporate the trend into my wardrobe in a versatile way. Best of all, black and white is a classic combination, so it will last for seasons to come.

Ippolita

Ippolita jewelry is stunning. You just can’t help but fall in love with its casual elegance. I have long admired their timeless jewelry and was pleasantly surprised when I found Delezhen, an Etsy shop, that offered jewelry with a similar style at a fraction of the price. I especially love these bracelets because they are easy to wear one at a time or stacked in different colors. You can check out the other styles the Etsy shop offers here.

Jacket: Jcrew (old, similar), Dress: H&M, Shoes: Sam Edelman (old, similar), Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren, Purse: Target, Bracelet: Jcrew (old)
A lady-like tweed jacket is the perfect way to add extra sophistication to an outfit. A tweed jacket can also be the perfect addition to pull an outfit together. I bought this tweed jacket at J. Crew seasons ago, and since then, it has been my perfect companion to my jeans, dresses, and skirts. Recently, I paired it with a structured white dress to add both color and sophistication. I think this is my favorite outfit yet with this jacket (but I have high hopes for future combinations)!
