Tuesday, April 28, 2015

Sweater: Charter Club (similar), Jeans: Jcrew (Another pair I love), Purse: Stella McCartney, Sunglasses: Rayban, Flats: Sam Edelman, Necklace: Forever 21
On the weekends, I constantly finding myself reaching for easy basics, so I don't have to put too much thought into what I am going to wear. With the Spring weather, my white jeans are one of these basics and I have been wearing them nonstop. They go with anything and everything and can be dressed up or dressed down. If you haven't yet invested in a pair for Spring, I really recommend you getting a pair. I have this pair from Jcrew and this pair from Old Navy and love the fabric and fit of both.

Printed Midi

Friday, April 24, 2015

Skirt: Banana Republic (similar), Blazer: Merona, Shirt: Jcrew, Clutch: Alexander Wang, Shoes: Zara, Sunglasses: Rayban
Midi skirts have become really popular over the past couple seasons and I always love how they give off such a chic vibe. I found this printed midi skirt at Banana Republic on sale and fell in love with it's oversized pattern. Since the weather is still a bit chilly, I have been pairing it with this white blazer and once the weather does warm up, I plan on wearing it with just a silk tank for an easy and flowy summer look. Have a great weekend!

Sunglasses / Candle / Cuff / Cross body / Watch / Ring / Wallet / Sandals (more sizes here)
If you haven’t heard yet, Saks has their Friends & Family sale going on right now and is offering 30% off a wide selection of goods. There are lots of great things included with this sale, so I have pulled together a couple of my favorite pieces that could work in any wardrobe. When it comes to buying things during Friends & Family sales, I prefer to buy classic items that rarely go on sale and all of these items are just that! This is the best Friends & Family sale I have seen all season, so be sure to check it out before it ends on Sunday!

P.S. Nordstroms is price matching Saks’ Friends & Family sale, so if you can’t find a size you are looking for, I would suggest checking out Nordstrom’s site.

Spring in New York

Monday, April 20, 2015

Dress: Shoplately (similar), Vest: Banana Repbublic (I ordered the petite size for a shorter length), Necklace: Julie Vos, Tote: Old Navy, Shoes: Sam Edelman, Watch: Michele, Sunglasses: Ray Ban
The weather in New York on Saturday was gorgeous! I spent the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather and a picnic in Central Park with my boyfriend. It felt so good to spend the whole day outside without a jacket and wearing sandals, and it makes me excited for all the warm summer days to come!

Embellished Espadrilles

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

Espadrilles are a big trend for Spring and there are lots of great options out there from lace to stripes to solid colors. This pair from Target is my favorite and I decided to dress them up with a beaded appliqué. It took not long to do and really makes the espadrilles standout. Here’s how I did it:

What you’ll need:
- E6000

Apply E6000 glue to the back of the beaded appliqué making sure to cover the edges and the middle.

Center the beaded appliqué on your espadrille where you want it to sit and press down on all sides. I let mine dry for an hour and made sure to check every 10 minutes or so that none of the edge had peeled up.

Once dry, you are ready to go!

Maxi Dress

Dress: Gap, Earrings: Etsy, Clutch: Target, Sandals: K Jacques
After spending a week in Australia with my family, I got back to New York late last night. It was an amazing trip and we packed a lot in for only being there a week. I shared some photos on my Instagram throughout the trip and plan on sharing lots more photos in a future post. Today though, I thought I would share this outfit and some photos from the last place we visited, Port Douglas. Port Douglas is a coastal city on the Northern part of Australia and where we stayed to visit the Great Barrier Reef. The area is full of lots of tropical rain forests and gorgeous beaches. After traveling around from city to city and having days full of activities, it was nice to end our trip in this serene setting and just relax.

Easy Denim Jacket

Denim Jacket: Jcrew, Shirt: Ralph Lauren, Pants: Citizens of Humanity, Flats: Sam Edelman, Purse: Clare Vivier, Sunglasses: Ray Ban
This season, I have really been focusing on simplifying my wardrobe and honing in on the pieces that I love and can be worn an endless amount of ways. A denim jacket is one of these items and I have been reaching for it more and more as an extra layer. It’s a basic I have had in my closet for years, but I find myself wearing it more this season than in the past. The black jeans, white button down, and leopard clutch I am wearing here as well are also basics I depend on in my wardrobe. I wear all of these items once a week, if not more frequently. It’s classic pieces like these that make your wardrobe work day in and day out.

P.S. I wrote about these Sam Edelman flats a couple weeks back and I have been wearing them non-stop. They are so comfortable and I have gotten lots of compliments on them!

Purely Perfect Review

Purely Perfect Review

I normally do not do reviews on beauty products, but after trying the Purely Perfect cleansing creme for over a month, I thought I would share my experience with the product. Purely Perfect is a cleansing creme for your hair to use in the place of normal shampoo and conditioners and does not strip your hair of your natural oils like a normal shampoo. I have always been intrigued with cleansing cremes like Purely Perfect and even tried Wen in the past. When I started Purely Perfect, I had fine, limp hair that lacked volume and easily became greasy. I had to wash my hair daily otherwise it would look very greasy and dirty. My biggest hope when starting Purely Perfect was to help how quickly my hair became greasy.

During the first two weeks of using Purely Perfect, I washed my hair daily with it, but had to use a dry shampoo afterwards as my hair looked greasy without it. I was surprised though how easy it was for me to detangle my wet hair, as with normal shampoo and conditioner it was always difficult. Additionally, when I did wash my hair I made sure to really scrub at my scalp to help exfoliate it and focus on cleansing my hair closest to my scalp. I did notice that my hair though greasy looking had more texture and was less limp.

As I moved into the next two weeks of using it, I realized that I should also incorporate brushing my hair with a natural bristle brush (I used this one) to help distribute my natural oils. As I started to do this both morning and night, it helped with the greasiness. I did start to notice though that my ends were beginning to look a little dry, so I started putting argan oil on them every couple nights to help. I realized only recently that Purely Perfect does have a product called Smooth Finish that would have helped and I plan on buying soon. During this two week time, I saw improvements with my hair’s greasiness and started having to use less dry shampoo.

My overall impression of Purely Perfect is that it has made my hair better as now I can go longer than a day without it looking extremely greasy, but I don’t think my hair is much shinier or softer than it was before I started. I think if you have thinker hair, you might see a greater overall change as fine hair is hard to add shine to without looking overly greasy. I have continued to use Purely Perfect for my hair and at $40 for a bottle, I used less than half of the bottle over a month, it doesn’t seem more expensive than when I used both a shampoo and conditioner. In using Purely Perfect, I learned a couple things that I think are important to having the best experience with this product:

-It will feel weird because it doesn’t create suds, but really scrub/massage at your scalp when you wash your hair as it really helps to clean the hair.
-Brush your dry hair with a natural bristle brush daily if not both morning and night as this will help distribute your natural oils.
-When you begin, use a dry shampoo (this one is my favorite) to help combat any greasiness. They can usually add extra volume to your hair as well.
-Use something on your ends whether its an oil or the Purely Perfect's Smooth Finish to help keep them from drying out.
-Finally, you need to give Purely Perfect some time to start working with your hair. If you plan to start using it, give it a month before deciding if you like the product as it takes some time for your hair to adjust.

I would love to hear other people’s opinions of Purely Perfect, so if you have tried it, I would love to hear your thoughts below. Also, if you have any additional questions let me know!

Crochet Dress4
Dress: Urban Outfitters, Bag: Jcrew, Shoes: Target, Sunglasses: Ray Ban, Watch: Nixon
After a full day of traveling, my family and I finally made it to Australia on Sunday morning.  I have wanted to visit Australia for a long time and it has been on my bucket list, so I am really excited to be here. On our first day, I wore this dress and these comfy espadrilles for a walking tour of Sydney to learn about the aboriginal culture and beliefs. This dress is one my favorites I brought on the trip, because of it’s extra feminine details and looser fit. I always choose to pack lots of dresses when I travel, as they take up less room in my suitcase and make it easier to pull outfits together.
