Capelet: Vintage (similar), Dress: Target, Shoes: Vince Camuto, Bracelet and Necklace: Jcrew, Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren
Some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe and accessories, are vintage pieces I have found at antique shops near where my parents live back home. Whenever I make it home, I always make the effort stop by and often find something special. On my most recent trip home over Christmas, I found this fur capelet and instantly fell in love with it's gorgeous color and Hollywood glam style. It's one of those pieces that makes you feel extra special when you wear it!

Growing up, I always loved when my grandparents came to visit. I would get to hear stories about my grandparents and embarrassing stories about my dad, that he failed to tell us. It was also a time I would get to enjoy my grandmother's self created cookies, Swedish Kisses. Named after my grandmother’s Swedish heritage and the chocolate kiss at the center, these cookies were and still are a favorite. Made of a sweet almond cookie with powdered sugar on the outside and an unexpected chocolate kiss on the inside, these cookies are a wonderful treat.

Jeans: Seven For All Mankind, Jacket: Juicy Couture (similar), Sweater: HM, Purse: Cole Haan, Shoes: Coach, Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren
The pair of pants I am wearing is deceiving. They have the look of leather, but they are not leather or even a faux leather material. Instead, they are a coated jean with a crackled coating giving them an amazing texture. I have become obsessed with them and cannot seem to stop wearing them. Don't be surprised if you see them here a lot.

the best is yet to come

Now that 2014 is a couple days old, it is time to make or break it with your resolutions. I mentioned my resolutions for the year here, and while I vowed to keep them simple, they still do require time and effort. I plan to take my resolutions day by day and use some technology to keep me on track. Because I never go anywhere without my phone, phone apps are a great way for me to track resolutions and keep at them. There are lots of apps out there though, so I have been depending on this article to help me narrow down which apps will be most helpful for me. The article offers up lots of great apps for almost any resolution, so I recommend you check it out! Just remember, just because you fail with your resolution one day does not mean you should quit!

new years resolutions
via
Happy 2014! With each new year, it is a time to reflect on the past one and see where I can make improvements in my life. In years past, I have made drastic goals that were far too difficult to keep and would often leave me forgetting about them before the first week of the year was over. So, when thinking of my resolutions for 2014, I decided to keep it simple. With only three goals, I hope I can really focus on them and stay committed. They are ongoing things, so I hope in time they will no longer feel like goals, but become part of my routine.

1. Reconnect with those I have lost touch with

2. Focus more on the clothes and accessories I have in my closet than those on the racks

3. Be healthy: workout at least twice a week and eat two fruit and three veggies each day

What are your New Year's resolutions?
