Black and gold is a classic combination. It is the definition of chic and makes me feel glamorous, no matter how simple the outfit. I love that such an easy color combination, always makes me feel my best.

Seven layer bars are a dessert staple at my family’s gatherings. They are easy to make, and hence the name only have seven ingredients. For years, my family enjoyed the same seven layer bars, until one year when a relative decided to mix things up, swapping chocolate for white chocolate, butterscotch for toffee, and pecans for almonds. The new seven layer bars were a hit, and now both varieties are requested at family gatherings.

I have mentioned before that my favorite color is pink, here, but when it comes to my favorite color to wear, blue, in particular navy, is a favorite. This outfit perfectly exhibits my love for blue, from the shirt, to the shorts, to the necklace, it is blue, blue, blue. And, I couldn’t help but add some stripes to the outfit, to really make this outfit all about my favorite color and pattern.

I have always had a love for purses of all shapes and sizes, but I have a special appreciation for clutches. When I use a clutch it feels like I am getting ready for a special occasion (though I am usually not), and not just doing an everyday task. This American Apparel clutch has been one of my favorites recently for its brown go-with-every-thing color and slight slouchiness. It is the clutch I have been grabbing time and time again. After all its recent use, I decided I wanted to give this clutch a makeover by adding some stripes (remember my addiction). It took only a few steps and some paint to give this clutch a whole new feel. I can’t wait to wear it!

What you’ll need:
Leather clutch (I got mine here)
Acrylic Paint (I used Angelus acrylic leather paint, you can buy it here)
Masking tape or painters’ tape
Tape measure or ruler
Paint brush

Step 1: Measure the width of your purse and find the center of the clutch.

Step 2: With the center found, place a strip of tape one inch away from the center line of the purse leaving a 2 inch stripe in the center.

Step 3: Begin painting the center stripe of the clutch with your desired color

Step 3: When painting the edges next to the tape, place the brush where the stripe begins and paint away from the edge of the tape. Between each coat of paint, let the paint dry completely. Continue to add coats until your receive the desired coverage. I used 3-4 coats.

Step 4: Once the the center stripe is dry, peel away the tape. To begin on the next stripes, cut 2 strips of tape a half inch wide. Place these two tape strips on each side of the center stripe. Then leaving a half inch gap, place a strip of tape on the outside of each of those strips, like in the picture above.

Step 5: Begin painting the two outer stripes, using the same steps as above.

Step 6: Once the paint dries on the outside stripes, peel away the tape.

Popovers are one of my favorite things to have with dinner. Partly because of the nostalgia of making them with my mom and sisters as a child and enjoying them at dinner, and partly because of their simplicity. They only require four ingredients: eggs, flour, milk, and salt. Yet, they yield a delicious crispy crust and soft inside that is hard to resist.

In yesterday's post, I wore this dress styled in a daytime look (seen here). Today, I want to show you how I transitioned this dress from day to evening. First, I switched my flats for heels and my purse for my favorite clutch. These switches quickly changed my look and can easily transition any outfit from day to night. The final touch was adding this belt, that really added that extra something to the look.

Happy Monday everyone! I wore this dress over the weekend and love it for its versatility. Like any simple colored dress, it can be dressed up or down depending on how you choose to accessorize it. I paired it with flats and a purse to run errands during the day and then switched out a few accessories to transition it into the evening. In these photos, I am wearing my day outfit. Check back tomorrow for how I transitioned it into the evening.

Over the weekend I discovered the store Fishs Eddy and was in love! The store carries your normal everyday kitchen items and kitchen items with a touch of whimsical. It is a store you could easily spend an hour just looking around (like I did), and it is the perfect place to shop for gifts. I saw so many items in this store that I loved, loved, LOVED. A couple of my favorites include, this adorable cake stand that makes me want to whip up a cake, and this cheese plate that makes me crave a fruit and cheese platter with wine. The crop top has been a trend for a while now, and I have never really understood it. The idea of displaying your midriff just wasn't appealling to me. I had practically written it off completely, when I saw this one. I was immediately drawn to it in the store and knew it was something I had to have. The combination of the stripes and the idea of wearing it over a dress (avoiding the exposed midriff), had me rethinking. I am now embracing the crop top trend, just in my own way.
